Rev. Crispin Dickenson's Gravestone

Rev. Crispin Dickenson was born on November 19, 1787, probably in either Hanover County, Virginia or Pittsylvania County, Virginia. His father was Griffith Dickenson, a veteran of the American Revolution, who stated in his 1832 pension application that he had enlisted in the Continental Army in Hanover County, but had been living in Pittsylvania for more than forty years at that point (see Griffith Dickenson’s gravestone).
Crispin Dickenson died on October 28, 1832. His obituary was published in the Lynchburg Virginian on November 8, 1832.

According to Lives of Virginia Baptist Ministers by James Barnett Taylor, Crispin Dickenson was ordained on March 24, 1827, and took charge of Locust Union Church on Pigg River, and Ararat Church on Sandy River.
